Does Yoga cause injuries?

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 30, 2008

My answer: No.
If you believe the stiffness in our body truly represents the stiffness in our minds, then I would argue that injuries are caused by chitta.  Chitta represents the unconscious mind/memory.  If you think about it, children are so bendy.  If you get a child to start doing gymnastics, they rock out those backbends.  [...]

Only 4 more…

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 28, 2008

Today is a thread hanging day.  Practice sucked.  In fact, it also sucked yesterday.  I was going through some sort of mental battle, but I’m not sure where it’s coming from or why.  It seems like it’s a lot of negativity and fear, but I’m not really sure what or why so it’s not affecting [...]

“Don’t Expect”

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 24, 2008

The mantra of my life.
I was thinking on the issue of giving today, only because every once in a while I like to “give” to my friends and family.  The sheer words of “thank you” always suffice.  My question: what happens when you don’t get this reaction?  I sent a gift card/hallmark card to someone [...]

The next great yoga film

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 22, 2008

Disclaimer: everything here is meant to be taken with care and seriousness.
My good friend wrote a post about yoga cliches.  I found it oh-so amusing, only because that yogini definition is comical.  Other things to add about the yogini – she’s never sore, she has no insecurity issues, loves the word goddess, has a penthouse, [...]

Igniting the fire

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 21, 2008

Well, I am so glad I went to class this weekend.  We had the most amazing teacher and studied the fascinating topic of psychology.  We learned about the states of the mind, the chakras, meditation, etc.  It was perfect for me.
It is so easy to get caught up in the mind, especially when something triggers [...]

Acrimonious

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 18, 2008

Word of the day. Well, mostly only because I didn’t know what it meant.  But who knows, I might be acrimonious today.  I really wish today wasn’t a moonday.  Today was one of those days where I could’ve really used a practice.
Batman Dark Knight is out today.  Ah I want to see this movie!!  Christian [...]

On the “art” of disappointment

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 17, 2008

You see, my fellow readers, you can’t get disappointed if you don’t have an expectation. I’m learning that when I stop expecting things to happen (my way), things all of a sudden aren’t so bad.  I found myself getting bummed out a week or so ago about something and I just paid attention to how [...]

Overwhelmed

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 15, 2008

And I think I nearly just had a breakdown.
Okay, that’s a HUGE over exaggeration because I’m pretty sure I’ve had some massive breakdowns in the past and this wasn’t anything close.
I am so overwhelmed right now.  I am this, yep, “-” that close, to dropping my ayurveda course.  I know, I know, it’s been so [...]

The inward journey to happiness

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 10, 2008

I set up a skype account and was able to talk/see my girlfriend who has been in Mysore since January.  It was so great to see her.  Wow, technology is amazing.
Prior to the phone/video chat, a very dear girlfriend came over.  She’s the type of friend who I don’t see often enough.  We surely don’t [...]

Love is the only miracle there is

Posted by: tiffany83 on: July 8, 2008

Seriously.
My sister and I had a long talk last night…we have totally different communication styles.  I was right in my last post, she really just wants what is best for me because she knows I should be happy all the time, no matter what.
I woke up so sore this morning – but not one bone [...]
